Is The Lagos State Government Indirectly Calling For The Dissolution Of Nigeria Through Referendum?

June 27 2023 | State Media

When the mother chicken becomes overtly aggressive in protecting its young ones against predators and infiltrators, there is absolutely no grounds to channel any blame to it.

This Biafran proverb is predicated on the recent moves by Lagos state to promulgate or enact a law that would protect Lagos state indigenes "from the aggressive and predatory property acquisition methods of aliens in Lagos".

Of course, Lagos is the number one cosmopolitan city in Nigeria, and it is not unexpected that various shades of nationalities will naturally converge in Lagos, with each nationality exhibiting their attributes and characteristics.

A number of factors have contributed to the tremendous growth of Lagos, which has made it almost the number one destination of various commercial and non-commercial engagers.

One of those factors is its strategic coastal location. This made Lagos easily accessible from almost all parts of Africa and beyond. Another is that since the colonial administration of Britain moved their operational headquarters of Southern Nigeria from Calabar to Lagos, from which it eventually became the capital of the AMALGAMATED Nigeria, the government activities that were centred in Lagos gave birth to various subsidiary activities that strategically placed Lagos at a colossal advantage, when compared with other cities. Don't forget that a part of Lagos was also a major slave export point during the days of SLAVE TRADE.

Now, Lagos got its greatest boost as a commercial city, when Britain, acting under the cover of Nigerian government, used Lagos as the operational headquarters in their brutal genocide against Biafrans, in the name of keeping Nigeria one.

When the human genocide was SUSPENDED by Britain in 1970, Britain, acting through the coverage of Nigerian government, commenced the economic, cultural, political, and social genocide (ABANDONED PROPERTY, £20 POLICY, CLOSURE OF AIRPORTS, SEAPORTS, RAILWAYS, PROHIBITION OF GENERATION OF ELECTRICITY, IMPOSITION OF NON BIAFRANS AS LEADERS IN GOVERNMENT AND SOCIO-CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS, AND IMPLEMENTATION OF EXCLUSIVE LIST REGIME), against Biafran genocide survivors, that naturally forced Biafrans to desert their homes in search of existential sustenance.

By reason of the fact that Lagos was the federal capital, from where a lot of things proceeded, Biafrans' choice of Lagos, as a survival and sustenance location, was almost without equivocation, and Biafrans (Igbos) began to arrive Lagos in numbers.

Because of the natural competitive inclinations of Biafrans, and the inherent attribute of building wherever they are, they began to buy and build their own residential abodes. As demand for housing increased, being gifted with entrepreneurial and profit-generating insight, the Biafrans expanded their business into housing, building their own markets, housing estates, and venturing into properties and real estates.

Nobody needs to be told that this astronomical growth of Biafrans in frightening proportions has been a source of apprehension to the rest of Nigerians, especially those from the south West, considering that time without number, they had accused the Biafrans (Igbos) of BUYING up Lagos. (To this, their kinsmen had always asked them whether Igbos forcibly took your lands or they SOLD to them).

The depth of this apprehension and fear was demonstrated during the last CIRCUS SHOW that was called election in February and March 2023. The deep-seated hatred against Biafrans was manifested in various forms, including, but not limited to preventing Biafrans from voting, brutalizing those who dared to vote, killing Biafrans in some cases, burning the properties of Biafrans in certain locations, ambushing and extorting Biafrans, with the threat of grievous consequences for not voting for the Lagos-owned APC Party.

Shortly after the CIRCUS SHOW called elections, which has been mired in controversy up to this moment, the Lagos state Government began the unnotified demolition of properties of Biafrans in many areas of Lagos, simultaneously, with the flimsiest and most untenable reasons.

Added to the above were threats of genocidal massacre of Biafrans, from very high and unexpected quarters, including the spokespersons of the INEC declared President, Bayo Onanuga, Dokun Ojomo, Sam Omatseye, and a host of others, who politely reminded Biafrans that what happened to them between 1966 and 1970 could easily be repeated.

As if the above was not enough, the Lagos State government, through the Lagos State House of Assembly, began to institute a law that will give discriminatory "treatments to aliens and indigenes of Lagos", with special preferential treatment to Lagos indigenes in the area of property acquisition and ownership.

Simply put, this law seeks to provide special protection and tremendous advantages for Lagos indigenes against the aggressive and predatory acquisition approach by the aliens. Of course, this law is directly targeted at Biafrans, with the primary, if not the sole aim of "clipping their wings before Lagosians become minority in their home".

Now, what is the lesson embedded in this absurdity, or should I say, aberration? Because you don't need a mirror to look at what you worn on the wrist, only one meaningful conclusion can be drawn from this barrage of hostility against Biafrans.

This conclusion, stemming from both official and unofficial quarters, including the deliberate and selective destruction of the properties of Biafrans, prohibition from participating in elections, physical, unprovoked, incessant and unwarranted murder of Biafrans, the routine threat of genocidal massacre of Biafrans by "Lagos indigenes", and the present law that is under incubation and birth, by Mudashiru Obasa-led Lagos State House of Assembly, that will bar non indigenes from owning properties in Lagos, all point to one thing.

They point to the fact that Biafrans are no longer wanted, and can't even be tolerated anymore in Lagos. Should they be allowed any accommodation in Lagos, it must under a condition that they must accept to be perpetual slaves.

From the foregoing, one can assert, unequivocally, that what Lagos State is stating, although indirectly, is that the Yoruba can no longer co-habit with Biafrans in the same country. Therefore, let Biafrans vacate their space, as they have said in more occasions than one, that if they don't, whatever happens to them, they must hold themselves responsible.

It is therefore not out of place to infer that what Lagos, and by extension, the generality of the Yorubas are calling for, is a REFERENDUM that will midwife the peaceful dissolution of Nigeria, for the emergence of the trapped nations within the British fraud, British inhumanity, and British graveyard called Nigeria.
