This Privacy Policy explains how Radio Biafra / RBL Management Services ("Radio Biafra", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use:

  • the Biafra TV Android application (com.app.biafra);
  • the Radio Biafra Android and iOS applications; and
  • the Radio Biafra website.

Together, these are referred to as the Services.

We are committed to protecting the privacy of users and limiting the information processed through our Services to what is reasonably necessary to provide, maintain, secure and improve them.

1. Information that may be processed

Depending on how you use the Services and the technologies or service providers involved, limited information may be processed.

Device and technical information

This may include:

  • device type and model;
  • operating system and version;
  • application version;
  • browser type;
  • language or regional settings;
  • IP address;
  • network and connection information; and
  • technical identifiers used by the application or third-party services.

This information may be necessary to deliver application functionality, establish network connections, deliver audio or video streams, provide advertising, diagnose technical problems, prevent abuse or maintain service security.

App activity and diagnostics

Limited information relating to application performance may be processed, such as:

  • application interactions;
  • streams or content accessed;
  • application session information;
  • crash information;
  • diagnostic information; and
  • application performance information.

Where analytics or diagnostic services are used, information is used to understand application performance and improve reliability and functionality.

Approximate location

Some technical services may infer a general geographic area, such as a country, state, region or city, from an IP address.

The Radio Biafra and Biafra TV applications do not require precise GPS location for their core radio or television streaming functionality.

Information you voluntarily provide

If you voluntarily contact Radio Biafra, submit an enquiry, make a privacy request or otherwise communicate with us, we may process the information you provide. This may include your name, contact information and the contents of your correspondence.

Users are not required to create an account to listen to or watch Radio Biafra broadcasts through the applications.

2. Information we do not require for core functionality

The Radio Biafra and Biafra TV applications do not require access to the following information for their normal radio and television streaming functionality:

  • contacts or address books;
  • SMS messages;
  • telephone call logs;
  • health information;
  • financial or payment information;
  • precise GPS location;
  • personal photos or videos;
  • calendar information; or
  • unrelated files stored on your device.

Permissions and application functionality may change as the Services develop. This Privacy Policy will be updated where necessary.

3. How information is used

Information processed through the Services may be used to:

  • provide radio and television streaming;
  • deliver application functionality;
  • establish and maintain network connections;
  • maintain and improve application performance;
  • diagnose crashes and technical problems;
  • understand general application usage;
  • provide and measure advertising where applicable;
  • protect the Services against abuse, fraud or security threats;
  • respond to privacy requests or enquiries;
  • comply with applicable legal obligations; and
  • maintain the security and integrity of the Services.

Where UK or European data protection law applies, processing may be based on legitimate interests, contractual necessity, consent or compliance with legal obligations, depending on the circumstances.

4. Advertising and third-party services

The Services may use third-party services to provide functionality such as:

  • advertising;
  • application hosting;
  • audio and video streaming;
  • content delivery;
  • analytics;
  • diagnostics and crash reporting; and
  • security and performance monitoring.

Where advertising is displayed, third-party advertising providers such as Google advertising services may process certain technical, device, advertising or interaction information in accordance with their own privacy practices and applicable consent requirements.

We do not sell personal information in exchange for money.

Where legally required, users may be provided with appropriate privacy or consent controls relating to advertising, analytics or similar technologies.

5. Data sharing

Information may be disclosed or made available to service providers where reasonably necessary for them to provide services on our behalf, including hosting, streaming, advertising, analytics, diagnostics and content-delivery services.

Information may also be disclosed:

  • where reasonably necessary to protect the security or integrity of the Services;
  • to protect the rights or safety of users or others; or
  • in connection with a legitimate organisational restructuring, merger, acquisition or transfer of the Services.

Service providers may process information in countries other than the country in which a user is located. Where required by applicable data protection law, appropriate safeguards will be used for international transfers.

6. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information processed through the Services. These measures may include:

  • encrypted HTTPS/TLS communications where supported;
  • access controls;
  • limiting access to authorised persons;
  • secure authentication;
  • maintaining and updating application components; and
  • limiting information processing to what is reasonably necessary for the Services.

No internet transmission, application or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

7. Data retention

Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was processed, subject to technical, operational and legal requirements.

Retention periods may differ depending on the service provider and type of information involved. Diagnostic, analytics and server information may be deleted, anonymised or aggregated after it is no longer reasonably required.

Information may be retained for longer where necessary to comply with applicable law, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, enforce agreements, or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

8. Privacy and deletion requests

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights relating to personal information concerning you. These rights may include requesting:

  • access to personal information;
  • correction of inaccurate information;
  • deletion of personal information;
  • restriction of certain processing;
  • objection to certain processing; or
  • withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent.

Submitting a privacy or deletion request

Privacy, access and deletion requests can be submitted through the Privacy Contact / Data Request form.

Please provide sufficient information for us to understand and process your request. For security and privacy reasons, we may need to verify that a request relates to the person submitting it before acting on the request.

We will respond within the period required by applicable law. Where information cannot legally or technically be deleted, we will handle the request in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements.

Users can also remove locally stored application information by clearing the application's storage through their device settings or uninstalling the application.

9. Children's privacy

The Services are intended for a general audience and are not specifically directed at children under 13.

We do not intentionally request personal information from children under 13 through the core radio or television streaming functionality.

If we become aware that personal information relating to a child has been provided in circumstances where it should not have been collected, appropriate steps will be taken in accordance with applicable law.

10. Third-party websites and content

The Services may contain links to websites, streaming platforms, advertisements or content operated by third parties.

Third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy practices. Radio Biafra / RBL Management Services is not responsible for the privacy practices of independent third-party services.

Users should review the privacy policies of third-party services where appropriate.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes to our Services, technology, third-party providers, legal requirements or privacy practices.

The Last updated date at the beginning of this Privacy Policy indicates when the policy was most recently revised.

Material changes may also be communicated through the Services where appropriate.
