The massacre of pregnant women, helpless children, and people of all ages was carried out in a brutal attempt to annihilate the Igbo race. Britain's resentment toward the Indigenous Igbo stemmed from their leadership in Nigeria's fight for independence. This independence was largely symbolic rather than transformative. The push for a proper federal system, one that would drive massive development across the country, became a threat to established powers, leading to unimaginable violence against the Igbo people.

Britain continues to exploit Nigeria's resources, particularly those from the South East, home to the people known as Biafrans. At the same time, they have allegedly maintained support for terrorism and the militarization of Biafran land, reinforcing the atrocities committed against Biafrans during the 1967–1970 genocide.

The blood of thousands of innocent children who perished from starvation will forever cry out against the British government and all who enabled the genocide. Elderly men were strangled, while women faced unimaginable horrors, raped and left to die. Pregnant women had their stomachs brutally torn open, their unborn children slaughtered, and they were left to suffer in agony. These atrocities, orchestrated by the British government, were deliberately concealed from the world. Through deception, Britain painted Biafrans as rebels before the United Nations, justifying the horrors inflicted upon them. But history will not forget. We shall never forget.

To this end, the Indigenous people of Biafra, "IPOB," mapped out the 30th of May to remember and honour our fallen heroes and heroines, a day that Biafrans all over the globe will always remember and honour from generation to generation.
