Tiger Base Demanded Money to Rescue Our Mother; After Payment, They Referred Us Back To Kidnappers For Payment Of Ransom. This is yet another traumatic story that exposed the failure of Tiger Base and its incompetence. Another family exposes their hopelessness in the hands of Tiger Base, who, after extorting them, could not do anything to rescue their mother.
Below is the story of this family.
"On this day last month, Monday, 17th November 2025, to be precise, my dear mother was kidnapped from our home in the village, right from the comfort of her bedroom while sleeping.
Disguising themselves as Police officers, they came in wearing "SPECIAL FORCE" attire, fully armed with two pump-action guns and one locally made Pistol. They entered my gated compound, pretending to be on official duty.
Upon gaining access to the compound, they surrounded my 72-year-old mother and her housekeeper with their guns. They robbed her of all the money she had at home, packed all food items within sight and finally made away with my old mother on a white Mini-Bus.
The next day, they called using her phone and demanded a 50M ransom. We reported to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Nigeria Police Force in Imo State. After they had demanded money for tracking, which we paid without hesitation, they left us more hopeless by asking us to open negotiations with the kidnappers.
We began negotiations and paid the first ransom after six days of her being in captivity. The kidnappers received the money but told us it wasn't enough. We continued negotiating as time passed, and we grew increasingly worried about her health. We begged and pleaded, but the kidnappers remained unyielding. All they wanted was money.
We reached out to friends for help raising funds; we borrowed money and sold properties to secure her release. Finally, we reached an agreement for a second ransom. They instructed us on how and when to make the payment.
Before proceeding, we requested to hear her voice. They allowed her to speak for about 10 seconds on the phone before taking it back. While we did hear her voice, it was very faint, and our concerns only deepened. All we wanted was to get her out and rush her to the hospital for urgent care.
We implored the kidnappers not to hold her any longer after we paid the second ransom, as we feared for her life. They assured us they would release her and provide the pickup location once the payment was confirmed.
We went ahead and paid the money, which was exactly on the 2nd week of her abduction. We kept our eyes on our phones all night to receive their call. They never called, and the number never came on again. Anxiety and tension were on the increase. We prayed and reminded God of all his promises. We exercised faith that we were going to have her back alive, having fulfilled all obligations required of us. Two days later, the phone was still switched off. At this point, we became more hopeless and resorted to fate whilst still praying.
On 3rd December, we received the most heartbreaking news of her corpse being discovered somewhere in the Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State. We went down in desperation to identify the body and be sure she was the one.
Lo & behold,
it was my mother!
Murdered in cold blood!
Who did she offend?
We never did wrong to anybody!
Why brutally take the life of an innocent woman who laboured many years in hardship to raise her children?
Why take our mother away from us in such a horrific manner?
To date, the Nigerian Police Force has done nothing.
How else can we come out of this pain if not to see that justice is served on all the perpetrators?
Hope Uzodimma, Your Excellency, Sir, we call on you to come to our aid. We are shattered and broken. This is not the Imo State you promised us under your watch. It is no longer news that people in Imo State now sleep with their two eyes wide open. Insecurity and terrorism have dealt us a hard blow. Nobody is assured of the next moment. These criminals now operate so freely that no one cares to check their activities. I'm sure it is not your idea for your administration to be reckoned with these barbaric and inhuman atrocities.
We demand justice for the brutal killing of our mother. My family has remained in severe pain ever since the news of her death broke out."
