Religious persecution in Nigeria is getting worse by the day. In recent months, there is no week without records of violence and its attendant records of deaths. The most notable act of violence in the heterogeneous contraption named Nigeria are on Christian Worshippers. It is becoming difficult these days for Biafrans (Christians and Jewish adherents) to profess their faith, most especially in the core Islamic north.
Muslim bandits have formed a lucrative business in religious persecution. They write letters to
Christian Association in Nigeria (CAN) and dominant Christian communities asking for ransom to be paid to them or they will attack them and wipe them out from surface of the earth.
In another occasion, these bandits have several times ordered CAN to shut down all the churches for a period of 3 months from December or be decimated, especially in the largest Christian dominated Southeast Nigeria. This was confirmed by DSP Mohammed Shehu, when he called the Christian Association of Nigeria telling them about the letters sent to them, according to SaharaReporters the video is viral.
These bandits are sponsored by Nigeria Government with express supervision of Britain and approval of world powers. If not, how could the United States of America remove Nigeria from her list of countries with particular concern in Religious persecution? How come the UK has never mentioned nor discussed this heinous crime of persecution for once? Why is the whole world silent on this whereas they discuss it when it happens in other countries?
The Southeast Nigeria are predominantly Christians and they suffer persecution more. Biafrans who are predominantly Christians have made several requests asking for intervention of the international community and yet there is no help forthcoming, rather than receiving help, United States recently gave the Muslim bandits backing.
What baffles everyone today is the refusal of Government to tag these murderous Muslim bandits a Terrorist group. They have also refused to list Fulani herdsmen a terrorist group, even when international bodies ranked them among the first four most dangerous terrorists groups in the world.
Now that they are no longer called Fulani herdsmen, instead they are called bandits in order to water down the terror associated with their actions. The new name "Bandits" is just a baptism of terror. It has not wiped away the gory scenes they leave on each attack. Their actions have struck and continue to strike more fear in the hearts of people than before. These bandits are also operating in the Southeast as Unknown Gun Men too. Their objective is to maim and wipe out Christians in Nigeria.
The number of Christians that have died directly or indirectly due to Islamist fuelled terrorism runs into hundreds of thousands according to United Nations. And there are frequent reports of attacks on houses of Worship, religious Leaders and others. The plight of Christians persecuted cannot be over emphasized. A clear example is the recent call on Christian Association in Nigeria (CAN) to shut down all the churches beginning from December.
Christian groups around the world had frowned at U.S. Blinken for removing Nigeria from the Religious Persecuted list. I quote from one of the journals.
"Christian groups, Government panel and former senior U.S diplomat are furious over Secretary of States Antony Blinken's decision to take Nigeria off a list of countries accused of engaging in or tolerating religious persecution”. (Rex Newspaper, Sunday, 28th November 2021)
The rise of Islamic terrorism in Nigeria is as a result of international backing and this may not see an end until the world say enough is enough otherwise, bandits and banditry will continue to reign supreme with news of great exploits.
Nigeria has failed as a state because life of its citizens can no longer be guaranteed especially when they have been confirmed as sponsors and supervisors of these onslaught.
The solution to this mess is to grant the Eastern Nigeria a separate nation to practice their Christian Faith while the Northern Nigeria practice their Islamic religion.
As the world keeps enjoying this religious persecution in Nigeria, we the Southeast Biafrans will continue to fight for Freedom from this evil place called Nigeria. A cursed nation that enjoys the blood flow of Christians.
