On the 17th day of January 2022, just a day to the adjourned Date (18th January 2022) for the hearing of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's case at the Federal High Court Abuja, his Lawyers were shocked to receive 15 fresh amended charges against him.
According to Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Nnamdi Kanu's lead Counsel, the 15 count amended charges was filed by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions of the Federation in respect of a case already scheduled for hearing.
In deep sadness, Barr Ejiofor said, and I quote: "We wish to categorically point out with dismay, that this further amended charges is the WORST kind of abuse of legal process that we have encountered in the history of legal practice --- either in Nigeria or anywhere in the world", He also said that the new charges are aimed at needlessly prolonging proceedings which will lead to needlessly initiating processes that will delay the trial.
Impunity reigns supreme in the Federal government of Nigeria. The government who is supposed to lead by example is the very one always breaking the Rules. They break the Laws of the land using the security arm to execute their recklessness.
The Judiciary is not independent, nor is the Legislature. The Executive arm has bastardized the entire system so much that the state is bleeding and begging to shut down.
How else can one explain the undeserved incarceration of a man kidnapped from another country and unlawfully renditioned to Nigeria in the past 7 months? How do one explain the criminal silence of Britain whose citizen has been held illegally in dungeon since 28th June 2021 till date?
Why is the world looking the other way despite the outcry from different parts of the World?
Why is the United Nation silent too despite hundreds of petitions and protests in their headquarters?
The continued incarceration of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has exposed the thoughts of the entire world towards the restoration of Biafra. It has exposed the thoughts of the World Powers, it has exposed Britain and more importantly it has exposed the wickedness of the United Nation towards the people of Biafra.
The southeast politicians and elites are not left out in this conspiracy to stop Biafra restoration. They have joined forces with the international community to quench the zeal of their people who cry night and day to get Freedom. They have exposed the youths to untimely deaths by using the military to hunt them even in their homes.
Today, we must make it categorically clear to Nigeria government that the continued delay in Court proceedings and incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu will provoke the Youths into taking laws into their hands.
Enough of this recklessness and IMPUNITY.
Justice delayed is Justice denied.
