These heavily armed officers are usually from Nigeria's northern and southwestern parts. The stress and anguish they put Biafrans through is unimaginable. Commuters are forced down from their vehicles and walk half a kilometer before getting back into them. They search the cars, and whether anything criminal is found or not, the Driver must pay money to them before being given a pass to go.
This is what the Indigenous people of Biafra in the Southeast suffer at every unit of over 100 roadblocks.
Interestingly, there are no military roadblocks in the Boko haram ravaged areas in the North. This is a clear definition of oppression in the East. The presence of armed Military and their trucks in the East is not for the protection of lives but for subjugation.
The Nigerian government is not bothered about this abnormal situation because, for them, the war between Nigeria and Southeast has not ended. So, the Southeasterners must remain a conquered people. Sadly, with the presence of the heavily armed Military and their trucks, the terrorist Fulani herders are still ravaging the forests, kidnapping, maiming and causing havoc.
With these disturbing situations, it is evident that there seems to be a synergy between the terrorists and the security personnel who are from the North and predominantly Muslim, just like the terrorists. So, from all these happenings, the Southeast people are no longer safe in Nigeria. A government's cardinal duty is to protect its citizens' lives and properties. Still, the story of the Biafran people residing in the Southeast is the opposite. They are here to take lives and destroy our property.
The indigenous people of Biafra must continue to call for a referendum in Nigeria to give everyone the chance to decide where they want to belong as a people. Nigeria is a failed state.
