With the unemployment rate due to a collapsed Economy in Nigeria, the youth in the southeast region of Nigeria, especially those in the rural areas, must embrace Agriculture rather than wait for government. Agriculture is an excellent opportunity to make wealth and live comfortably. They may go into crops, livestock, fish farming or cattle rearing (ranches).

Ways to achieve success in Youths' involvement or enthusiasm in Agriculture are Financial support, procurement of modern equipment, and sensitization of the surrounding communities by our billionaire brothers and sisters who lavish their money on frivolities.

Community heads and traditional Rulers must rise to the occasion and empower the youth in Agriculture, thereby achieving Food Self-sufficiency in the Southeast as a whole.

The reason farming is declining in the Southeast is the lack of capital to help make cultivation and livestock easy. In the pre-colonial era, Agriculture was a communal duty. The community came together to cultivate and share the proceeds. Today, the system has changed. You must either have ancestral land of your own or acquire it. This has made access to land very difficult for the youth, affecting Agriculture.

Agriculture requires some capital to thrive. Therefore, while pressing the youths to get into farming, we must make financial provisions to mobilize them. They need to make many procurements, from seedlings to fertilizers. They need to engage labour to assist them.

Modern Agricultural equipment should be made accessible to these youths. It will motivate them to farm. Without these equipment, farming becomes very stressful or near impossible. As a result, some cultivation processes will be neglected, leading to a very low harvest, which could be discouraging. When a farmer is well equipped, his harvest brings Joy, and this will encourage him to double his efforts next season.
