The long suffering of the actualization of Biafra sovereignty and the incarceration of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the indigenous people of Biafra, is justice denied for decades, even as hopes are high amongst the people that justice shall surely come someday.
The continued massacre of the indigenous people of Biafra since 1945 in this contraption called Nigeria is man's cruelty to fellow man. The silence of the international community makes one feel there is a conspiracy to wipe out the indigenous people from the surface of the earth and occupy their territory because of their rich natural resources.
Since the amalgamation of Southern and Northern protectorates by Frederick Lord Lugard in 1914, the blood of innocent, peaceful Biafrans has always been spilt by the Nigerian government to keep them in what is popularly called "One Nigeria".
A friend once said, 'It is better to be alone than in the wrong company. Given what the people of Biafra have suffered and are still suffering to date, it would have been very easy for the world to grant them independence to save lives. No race has passed through this continuous genocide and survived it.
This cruelty has lasted because Britain, the country that colonized Nigeria, is still milking the resources in Biafraland under the cover of Nigeria. The people of Burkina Faso have risen against their colonial oppressors, the French. They are working to create a new nation free from European control, striving for independence and self-determination. In contrast, Nigeria still remains under the influence of its colonial master.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is currently enduring severe mistreatment in the custody of the Nigerian government for his insistence on the restoration of the Biafran nation. The Nigerian government violated international laws when it kidnapped him in Kenya and unlawfully brought him to Nigeria. He should not be tried in any Nigerian courtroom because he has been extraordinarily renditioned to the country.
Nnamdi Kanu is suffering like Ojukwu, who faced international neglect between 1967 and 1970. The world seems complicit, enabling the aggressor (Nigeria) to commit acts of genocide rather than allowing the indigenous people of Biafra to attain their sovereignty. Biafrans have lost over 7 million people since 1945 to date, out of this number, two million were children starved to death during the genocide in 1967-68.
Today, the government is using the Fulani terrorist herdsmen to continue the killings. They come in pretence of raring Cows and turn around to kill farmers, rape the women, burn down communities and destroy farms without any security challenge by government.
The Indigenous people of Biafra, led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, have come to give the final battle for the independence of Biafra. We are not going back. A call for a referendum is not a call for war. We have the right to self-determination, and we cannot continue to be in a union where our future and that of our unborn children are not guaranteed. This is the time to continue to push without fear in the presence of our enemies.
