The reports that Igbo youths are avoiding recruitment into the Nigerian Army have gained widespread attention across media platforms, including television and national newspapers. In response, Nigerian Army chiefs have engaged with traditional rulers in Biafra communities, attempting to persuade young men to enlist.
However, this recruitment drive is widely seen as a deceptive tactic, an effort to gather strong Igbo men under the pretense of employment, only to send them into dangerous battlefields like Sambisa Forest, where they face near-certain death. This systematic targeting is viewed as a form of ethnic cleansing, deliberately weakening Biafraland by eliminating its strongest defenders. As these men fall in battle, the land of Biafra is left vulnerable, allowing armed groups disguised as herders to advance unchecked.
It is suicidal to join the Military that has no trust in you. They can not promote you to the highest office because you are an Igbo man. Your rank stops at a point, and you are retired. There is a glass ceiling for Igbo officers in the Nigerian Military. That is, if you are lucky to live through the years.
The blood of Biafrans shall no longer be spilt for Nigeria. Our blood was spilt in 1945 without provocation, in 1967 to 1970, over 6 million Biafrans were slaughtered with the conspiracy of Britain and the world.
This new strategy of joining the Nigerian Army whom we watch everyday killing our youths in the open and in secret, we see them rape and molest our women, we watch them extort us in various check points while dehumanizing the innocent passengers. This attempt to lure us into the Military can not see the light of Day.
The situation within the Nigerian Police reflects a concerning trend. An Igbo person struggles to rise to the top ranks. Currently, the Inspector General of Police, from the southwest (Yoruba), is due for retirement. However, he continues to serve because the next in line for the position is an Igbo man from the southeast region. Due to this, the president has extended the term of the current Inspector General, his ethnic counterpart.
This ongoing exclusion of the southeastern people perpetuates distrust and undermines the unity that the government claims to promote. Every attempt by the Military to engage the people of the southeast region is an attempt to depopulate the Igbos because they know that our youths are our strength. If they eliminate our youths, they would have succeeded in weakening us.
The sensitization of the youths of the indigenous people of Biafra is paying off, after all. We, the indigenous people of Biafra, reject your offer today and tomorrow. We want to stay back and protect our land.
No to the Nigerian Military's plea for recruitment.
