Accelerated Hearing as declared in Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's Case by Justice James Omotosho

Following the reassignment of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's case file to Justice James Omotosho, after losing confidence in Justice Binta Nyako, the first court hearing took place in Abuja in March 2025. During this session, Justice Omotosho ordered an Accelerated hearing of the seven-count treasonable felony charge filed by the Federal Government against the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. He expressed concern over the prolonged nature of the case, calling it unfair. Many praised his courage for ensuring that justice is served promptly, without any further delays.

Sadly, the declaration of Accelerated Hearing has lost its route. Justice James Omotosho has been cornered by the powers that be. He has joined the government to further prolong the judgment till eternity following his recent long adjournments.

This is another lie from the pit of hell. It is just like the proverbial saying that a leopard cannot change its colours. Nigeria is not a progressive Nation and cannot change overnight. We are back to the status quo. The same part of unnecessary delays and deception to keep an innocent man in a dungeon illegally incarcerated and subjugated is here again.

This matter has since been decided upon by the Federal Court of Appeal, which heard the case. Judgement was passed, "Discharged and Acquitted". Kenyan High Court has also ruled in his favour and even awarded 10million shillings to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for abuse of his human rights and ill treatment, which violated international law.

In all of these, Justice Omotosho, knowing that the Nigerian Judiciary was going on recess, still fixed a date for judgment after 3 months to allow their holidays, while an innocent man is left to continue in pain under severe torture. Who fixes Accelerated Hearing for 12 months and counting?

This outrageous exhibition of impunity by the Judiciary, who are supposed to protect the common man, is one of the primary reasons the people of Biafra seek an independent State where there will be equity and fairness, where people will face consequences for their acts and omissions, where a Judge will understand that he too is not above the law.
