In the early hours of today, 22nd July 2025, in what looked like a war movie, the joint Nigerian military forces invaded Isu community in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, shooting sporadically. They broke into houses, killing their inhabitants and setting the houses ablaze. The entire community was thrown into panic and confusion as they fled to safety. Many were not as lucky as they died as a result of gunshots, and others were seriously injured.
The military was said to be searching for members of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB). A group simply seeking self-determination. A constitutional Right of any individual or group in Nigeria. The Isu community has been very peaceful over the years, going about their legitimate businesses. The reason for the unprovoked invasion by the joint military cannot be defined at this moment.
The joint military arrived early in the morning on the faithful day in their Hilux, numbering over 34 Hilux with their Dogs. Confirmed reports also claim that they were led by some individuals from the community who were pointing at houses to be stormed to the joint forces. They appear to have a list of all the targeted houses, which were all set ablaze.
The question is, how long will the Nigerian joint forces continue to inflict pain on the people of the Southeast simply because they seek to be free from a failed nation called Nigeria, where they feel unwelcome? How long will this brutal use of force be tolerated? How can the Governor of Ebonyi State, who is supposed to be the chief security officer, remain silent while this brutality continues against his people? There hasn't even been a press statement condemning this wickedness. Tomorrow, this same team will unleash chaos on another community, and the cycle will continue.
This is to let the world know what is happening in Nigeria and especially the United Nations. The international community should take note. Since 2015, the southeast people of Biafran territory in Nigeria have been under severe attacks by the Nigerian Government. The Leader of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) has also been incarcerated for over 4 years after being renditioned illegally from Kenya to Nigeria.
The people of the southeastern region of Nigeria are frustrated with their union with Nigeria. It is unacceptable for Nigeria to kill a specific tribe for 50 years while forcing them to remain in this union.
Biafra sovereignty is a duty that must be achieved.
We shall continue to demand a Referendum, or we will fight to pursue our Freedom from this failed State of Nigeria.
