Insecurity in Imo: Governor Uzodimma Exonerates IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu, Points Finger at Political Opponents

Soon after the Supreme Court validated Hope Uzodimma in January 2020 as the Governor of Imo State against the generally elected Governor, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, Imo State became the hotbed of insecurity in the entire Southeast with news of killings, arson and abductions dominating the media.

Imo State, which was the most peaceful State in the East for several years, lost that tag and became the most terrorized State in the South. Thousands of people are displaced from their ancestral Lands, Hundreds of houses are burned down, and the number of disappeared citizens cannot be mentioned. Kidnapping and ransom became a way of life. So many communities became a desert.

The media houses have consistently tagged these violent acts to IPOB or ESN, and they have called out Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as the sponsor of all these criminalities. This false flag demonized the good intention of IPOB, which was to secure the lives and properties of the Southeast people against the marauding Fulani terrorist Herders. The IPOB has several times denied being involved in these dastardly acts.

In all of these, Governor Hope Uzodinma has consistently reiterated that the resurgence of insecurity in the State is the handiwork of the opposition elements who are threatened by the success recorded by his administration and not IPOB.

He said:

"I have cross-checked since the inception of this mindless bloodletting in Orlu, Orsu and other communities in the Zone, not one Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) person has died, nor have their houses been burned or attacked. It is clear to me, therefore, that these killings are the handiwork of politicians who are after the APC members."

He was also captured saying, "Soon the Government will identify and separate those using the name of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to perpetuate crime from those who are actual criminals, kidnappers and Armed Robbers in the State." The Governor wondered how burning of Police stations, Local Government Headquarters and the killing of innocent and hapless citizens could help to advance the course or aspiration of any politician kicking against his government.

The recent viral video of a notorious leader of a criminal gang used by these politicians only confirmed what the Governor already said about Politicians being responsible either directly or indirectly for sponsoring insecurity to cause tension in the State. In that viral video, the notorious leader even mentioned the Governor as one of the Politicians who came to hire them for several operations against opposition politicians. The Governor has not come out to clear the Air about these accusations.

The recent revelation by the criminal gang leader nicknamed "Gentle Yahoo" and the Governor's earlier assertions have once again vindicated the IPOB group. IPOB has never been a terrorist Organization. It was built on Justice and Equity. Freedom and Truth at all times.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu must be released because he has not committed any crime known to the Law. The demand for self-determination by IPOB is a constitutional Right of the indigenous People of Biafra.
