The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, has called for the regulation of social media in Nigeria, citing its misuse for spreading fake news and hate speech as a threat to national peace and stability. He urged the government to adopt similar measures to those in other countries that punish offenders, emphasizing that the goal is to curb abuse.
The sudden call for social media regulation by the Sultan of Sokoto, "Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar III," at a time when the country is discussing the issue of Insecurity, as addressed in a statement by Donald Trump, is clear evidence of their involvement in the ongoing massacre of Christians and other indigenous tribes by the Fulani herdsmen jihadists in Nigeria.
The Sultan of Sokoto, in his call, claimed that social media poses a severe threat to the nation's peace, unity, mutual respect, and, lastly, to the avoidance of the splitting up of Nigeria.
The above statement is the mindset of a dubious, manipulative and deceptive individual whose goal is to hide away and seal all the crimes perpetuated against the poor masses. The purpose of this advice is simple. Gag the masses and dish out lies to the international community about the reality on ground.
My question to the Sultan, who is raising the alarm about Nigeria's unity, is, has there ever been UNITY in Nigeria? What is Unity laced under intimidation and military occupation of the people of the Southeast? We are the Indigenous People of Biafra, seeking freedom from Nigeria since 1967 to date. Nigeria has committed genocide in the Southeast on several occasions, and we are not backing down. We shall continue to fight for freedom till the end of time.
The Nigerian government and mainstream media have, over the years, misled and misinformed the public using various platforms, including television stations, newspapers, social media, and their presence at global forums. This pattern mirrors what happened during the Biafra genocide from 1967 to 1970, where Nigeria misrepresented the facts about the atrocities occurring in the southeastern region. As a result, over six million people lost their lives during that period.
The social media platform serves as a vital tool for exposing the lies and atrocities that occur daily. The recent outburst from the Sultan indicates that they are deeply affected by the reality on the ground. The truth is, the world no longer relies solely on television stations or newspapers for information. Instead, people are engaging with everyday individuals who present facts and figures on social media. It is time to put an end to the lies and distortions of the news.
Trump saw the truth through independent investigation and social media before making a decision. He refused to rely on your decades of Lies and deception.
We, the indigenous People of the Southeast region of Nigeria, welcome the US to come Guns Blazing and save the Christians and other indigenous People seeking help.
