The British Broadcasting Corporation, a media arm of the British government, has always been in the news for the wrong reasons since its inception. They have used their global reach to ruin nations, sparking wars through their reporting and fostering enmity among world powers.
The role of the BBC in the Nigerian genocide in Biafra between 1967 and 1970 will forever remain unforgettable and unforgivable. They used their platform, which was the only means of passing news in the world six decades ago, to blackmail the Biafran nation. In 1967, they misinformed the United Nations and the entire globe about what actually transpired between the Southeast region and Nigeria, and that led to the Biafran genocide.
While the genocide was going on, the BBC was still sending lies to the world, which led other nations to join Nigeria and further cause a longer genocide that claimed over 6 million lives of innocent people, the majority of whom were children who died of starvation.
Today, after 58 years of the genocide that left a deep trauma on the people, the BBC is still playing the same role again. Unfortunately for them, this is the era of the Internet (Social Media), where people can tell their stories to the World without restrictions.
BBC lied against the then Regional leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, despite his brilliant and tireless effort to maintain Peace in the face of unprovoked massacre of his tribes men by people from the North.
Ojukwu sought peace at Aburi, Ghana, to avoid war, but the British government, using its BBC, launched propaganda to prevent Nigeria from upholding the Peace Accord signed in Ghana (the Aburi Accord). At this point, Ojukwu had no option but to defend his people who had fled home to the Southeast.
This mainstream media platform has been known to be in the business of using its platform to dish out fake news, lies, blackmail and propaganda. The blood of millions of people, children, women and innocent Biafrans will continue to haunt the British government and her generations unborn.
Recently, the BBC pushed its excesses to the US President Trump, and he said he would sue the broadcaster despite its apology. The US president signalled he won't be backing down from his threat against the UK public broadcaster.
US President Donald Trump has announced his intention to sue the BBC for damages ranging from $1 billion to $5 billion, despite the broadcaster's apology regarding a documentary that Trump's lawyers claim is defamatory. In an edited segment of the TV show Panorama, the BBC spliced together different parts of Trump's speech from January 6, the day of the Capitol storming. This editing created the impression that Trump told the crowd he would walk with them to the Capitol and "fight like hell."
He told GB News: "I made a beautiful statement, and they made it into a not beautiful statement." The president said Friday he plans to call UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss the spat with the BBC, claiming the prime minister is "very embarrassed" about the situation.
