The Post-War Slogan Of "No Victor No Vanquished": A Scam by the Nigerian Government

The genocide against Biafrans from 1967 to 1970, perpetrated by the Nigerian government with the support and oversight of the British government, ended under the misleading banner of "No Victor, No Vanquished." This phrase was associated with a supposed treaty focused on Reconciliation, Reconstruction, and Rehabilitation (3R).

This policy was intended to promote national unity and encourage forgiveness and reintegration of former Biafran soldiers and civilians into Nigerian society. However, it was never implemented. Instead, a conspiracy emerged to exacerbate the situation through stringent policies that further impoverished a traumatized population that had barely survived the genocide.

The average Southeast Biafran who survived the genocide was denied access to their funds in the banks. Each individual received only £20, regardless of how many millions they had in their accounts. All the houses and properties they owned outside the Southeast were labelled as "Abandoned Properties" and taken from their original owners.

They were also denied the opportunity to work in government offices. Tribal and religious bigotry escalated and remains severe to this day. No Biafran is trusted to attain the presidency of Nigeria or any other highest civil service position. They are not permitted to hold sensitive roles within national security agencies.

Amidst the marginalization and suspension against the southeast people since the war, the unprovoked attacks by religious extremists and Nigerian soldiers have not stopped. Many who barely survived the genocide eventually died out of heartbreak when they saw that the policies signed by both sides were only a scam. They could not reclaim their properties. Their bank accounts were frozen, and the door to Civil Service was shut against them. Life became very hopeless and meaningless. They went into depression and died in pain.

To date, there is no Federal Government presence in the entire southeast region of Nigeria: no functional International Airport, no functional Seaport, no visible infrastructure and no government establishments. The only federal presence seen on every corner of the southeast region is the Military Siege. A situation that has caused loss of resources and the lives of innocent people.

It is this situation that gave rise to the second demand for self-determination by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. A demand that was welcomed by the overwhelming majority of the indigenous People of Southeast. A small number of politicians who pick crumbs from the Nigerian State kick against a sovereign State of Biafra. Irrespective of their views, the tempo and wide acceptance continued to rise as it gained international support from many countries.

Today, we see that the President of the United States has designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern due to the ongoing genocide against Christians in the country. As parliamentarians advocate for U.S. intervention, the restoration of the sovereign state of Biafra appears to be drawing closer. Meanwhile, the Nigerian government continues to incarcerate Nnamdi Kanu, and the quest for an independent Biafra is gaining momentum across continents, receiving widespread support.
